Vote for Your Favorite in the Biographile Short Memoir Contest
By Biographile
Here at Biographile, our mission is to bring stories about fascinating people to our readers. Sometimes those stories come from actors or comedians, politicians, writers or adventurers, and so many kinds of different and special people. This time, with our short memoir-writing contest, we asked you – our readers – for your stories on overcoming loss. The entries came flooding in and it was incredibly challenging to narrow down so many emotional and affecting stories about loss and hope.
Thank you to all of our readers who revealed themselves to us by sharing those incredible tales of heartbreak, death, disease, and more. Though your stories expressed loss, we also found in them brilliant inspiration and a wealth of hope. Below we present the five we consider to be the most well-written and touching. Please take the time to click through and read each of them, and then "Like" only your top choice in the Facebook Like widget on the left-hand side of that story's page. The essay with the most "Likes" by 11:59 PM EST on May 15 will be deemed the People's Choice winner. The staff of Biographile will also be choosing a winner. The authors of each of the two winning essays will win a Barnes and Noble Nook. Best of luck to our entrants -- and thanks again to all of our writers and readers.
