Cheryl Strayed, author of the upcoming memoir "Wild," revealed yesterday that she penned the advice column Dear Sugar on The Rumpus, a San Francisco-based culture website. Over the last two years, "Sugar" had divulged intimate details about her personal life including sexual abuse, infidelity, heroin addiction, fueling speculation about her true identity.

When asked by the New Yorker's Sally Errico, if she thought coming out would change her relationship with her readers, Strayed replied, "I’ve always written the column as if I were a naked woman standing in a field showing you everything but her face. I still plan to write it that way."
