Neil Young to Pen New Memoir, and More

Folk-rocker Neil Young is writing his second memoir. This time he’ll fill in his musical life stories with details on his obsession with cars. As of yet untitled, Young’s latest autobiography will be published by Penguin imprint Blue Rider, and include illustrations by the musician himself, as well as notes on his environmental and political activism. Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve Chairman who led the United States through the infamous 2008 recession, is writing a memoir about those very tense and stressful days. His goal this time? To shed light on what government decisions were made then, and why. Bernanke, who stepped down last month, will set the beginning of his written tale in 2002, when he first accepted his ill-fated position. [Christian Science Monitor]
Zoe Saldana will likely play forties bluestress Eartha Kitt in an upcoming biopic. Kitt, who loudly opposed the Vietnam war, had an run-in with with Lady Bird Johnson at a White House luncheon, and was allegedly blacklisted from working in the U.S., was once declared “the most exciting woman in the world,” by Orson Welles. The film will include a take on the luncheon incident, along with renditions of Kitt’s many musical performances. [The Huffington Post]
Kanye West together with Bret Easton Ellis? The two are teaming up to write a screenplay about the making of the rapper’s “Yeezus” album, and Kanye reportedly has one request: his soon-to-be wife should star in the film. No word yet on when the project could begin -- and Easton Ellis has a word of caution for the impatient: “It’s Kanye Land, and that’s subject to a whole other time frame.” [via Metro]
