By Susan H. Gordon
An excerpt from the world’s most famous pundit couple’s memoir will appear in the January issue of Vogue and is already available on the magazine’s website. Love and War, James Carville’s and Mary Matalin’s joint autobiography, will be published by Penguin imprint Blue Rider Press, and concentrate on the DC power duo’s move to Louisiana, after two decades in Washington. From the looks of it, their new life might be more domestic but it remains just as animated and opinionated. [via Capital New York]
Just in time to pay honor to his band’s induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, Kiss’s Paul Stanley will publish his memoir. Due out in April, at the hands of HarperOne, Face the Music: A Life Exposed is the last Kiss-member bio to hit the shelves: “with the three other guys from the original lineup having written books, it’s kind of like, ‘OK? Now let me tell you what happened,’” says Stanley. Chances are he won’t have the last word for long, but we’re looking forward to reading it just the same. [via Ultimate Classic Rock]
Mark Obama Ndesandjo, with whom President Obama shares a father, has written a memoir due out in February as self-published project. Ndesandjo’s story will include details on life with his father, who he describes as “a troubled person [with] an alcoholism problem [who] didn’t treat his families very well.” In the 500-page book, Ndesandjo also includes a list of disagreements with parts of his more famous brother’s autobiography, as well as details on their first meeting. What’s produced by Ice Cube and written by Jonathan Herman? An upcoming biopic on the seminal west coast hip hop group N.W.A., titled “Straight Outta Compton.” With a rotating cast of members, including Ice Cube, Eazy E, and Dr. Dre, N.W.A defined the way west coast hip-hoppers sounded and dressed and pioneered the genre of gangsta rap. Herman, whose recent successes include a remake of Hitchcock’s "Birds" and a Matt-Damon-involved film about hacking, is sure to take the script in all the right directions. [via Billboard]
